If exhaust is the most popular modification on a performance car, wheels are probably a close second. Everything from upgrading to a popular factory style, to changing things up with something from the aftermarket can be found throughout the hobby.
A major player in the performance wheel game for a long time has been Weld Racing Wheels. Offering everything from the Draglites that were popular on Fox-body Mustangs to their current line of wheels for drag, street, and even road racing enthusiasts.

A straight edge along with a ruler or a tape measure, and a little bit of know-how is all you need to properly measure backspacing.
Regardless of what wheels you’re ordering, most of the time you’ll need to know what backspacing you need, to get wheels that fit properly. Determining the backspacing is not a difficult process, and Weld even has a video which we recently ran across explaining the process of how to accurately measure backspacing
The video covers the proper way to measure backspacing whether a wheel currently has a tire mounted or not, as well as proper methods for measuring with both a standard style ruler, or a tape measure.
One of the interesting points made in the video is regarding the straight edge needed to run across the back of the wheel. As is pointed out in the video, the straight edge must run across the wheel lip, not the bead area. If a tire is mounted, the straight edge will need to be cut in a manner that allows it to sit on the lip to get the proper measurement. Weld offers a few other videos on wheel measurements and wheel tech on their YouTube channel and at their site. Check out the video and for more information visit the Weld Racing Wheels web site.
