The Ford Mustang’s 50th anniversary will be celebrated all over the world, and it will also introduce sales of the iconic pony car to markets outside of North America. Europe will be getting its own version of the Mustang, though the pony car is already very popular in the Fatherland despite being expensive to import and even more expensive to fuel.
And just like here in America, sometimes even an over-the-top car like the 662 horsepower Shelby GT500 just isn’t enough for the Germans. Tuner Anderson Germany has taken the 2013 Shelby GT500 and give it the Super Venom treatment, which according to Top Speed has added a wicked body kit that improves both form and function.
The Super Venom bodykit only adds to the inherent fierceness of the 2013 Shelby GT500, adding what looks to be functional side air scoopers feeding cool air directly to the rear brakes. The bodykit also flared out the front and rear fenders a bit, giving the Shelby an even meaner stance that is enhanced by a new spoiler and a wicked matte black and red paintjob.
Honestly, the only thing we take issue with is the name. “Super Venom” implies, in our mind, some kind of enhanced performance, but there is no mention of any improvements to either suspension or drivetrain. That’s fine and all, and with 662 horsepower this Shelby convertible doesn’t need more power per se…the name just implies it is all.
Then again we Americans are spoiled by cars like the 800+ horsepower Shelby Super Snakes. Ze Germans don’t really have anything in comparison, so we’ll let this name snafu slide, as it does look rather bad-ass all the same.
