With the sixth-generation Mustang, Ford has finally built a truly global product, and millions of people across just about every continent can now aspire to someday buy a brand new Mustang. That hasn’t always been the case though, and those without the means to import a “grey market” Mustang have to take more drastic measures. Some people just have to get their Ford Mustang fix.

An eBay listing from the UK shows just how far Mustang enthusiasts will go to show off their love. One British fan imported and installed (at great expense) a “Shelby” Mustang front end to a Volvo V70R sedan, while customizing the rear end into something nigh unrecognizable. It’s an adoring if ugly tribute to a great car.

The auction has already ended with a predictably low bid of just £1,019, or just under $1,600 USD, despite claiming to have invested over £10,000/$16,000 into this automotive abomination. It’s not like the idea of a Mustang sedan is itself repulsive, as even Ford toyed with the idea from time to time, it’s the execution falls so short of being taken seriously that it must be universally shunned and loathed. How can one be expected to blend the boxy-blandness of a Volvo with the timeless lines of the most retro S197 Mustang? It just can’t be done, and this is the good side.

The back end has a couple of vertical brake light bars, supposedly to mimic the taillights of the classic Mustang,but the vertical slope of the Volvo’s trunk makes comparison impossible. Let’s hope the buyer did the right thing, and put this poor hybrid horse out to pasture.

But hey, at least it’s a five-speed, right?
