There are many different ways to build a Mustang. Their solid foundation allows them to easily be transformed from a drag to road race car. While there are many manufactures that build good, universal vehicles (Saleen, Roush, Shelby, etc) that can be used universally, there are few out there that built a street vehicle to be a real hardcore racer. Kenny Brown is one of the few that continue to expand on their GT-4 line of Mustangs.
The Kenny Brown GT-4 Series Mustangs are the fourth generation of Kenny Brown Mustangs whose DNA dates all the way back to the 1986-87 Saleen-R Mustangs that Kenny engineered, built and managed to four National Championships in endurance sports car racing. New for SEMA is the GT-4 RS. This is currently Brown’s top-of-the-line that is bred to be the ultimate track day car.
Of course it features KB’s complete AGS 4.0 Advanced Geometry Suspension system. From the front K-member to the panhard, Brown replaces virtually every suspension component over to their race-proven design. Also featured are a plethora of high-end performance options including custom engine and transmission upgrades, matched with massive Baer brakes, ultra lightweight Forgeline wheels combined with a host of other high tech upgrades.
All of GT-4 RS’s early development was performed at Autobahn, one of America’s premier motorsports country clubs just south of Chicago, so it is only natural the first Kenny Brown GT-4 RS would be dubbed the “Autobahn Edition”. The GT-4RS’s power to weight ratio of around 7.2:1 ensures that track day drivers have more grunt on hand than even the best supercars on the circuit. The GT-4 RS model starts at around $89,000 with the vehicle included.
“The latest S-197 Mustang with the awesome 5.0L Coyote engine has given me an outstanding platform to work my magic,” states Brown, “This past season we have spent many hours at tracks across the country developing, testing and validating the different components and packages for my upcoming 2013 GT-4 Series Mustang range. As always, all my cars have base package content with an extensive option list and each is hand-crafted and bespoke to the individual customer’s needs and budget.”
If $89,000 is a little too rich for your blood, Brown offers three other Mustang levels to choose from. The GT-4 and GT-4 S (supercharged) are designed for super street performance and two models specifically for track days or motorsport country clubs – GT-4 CS (Club Sport) and the heavily optioned GT-4 RS.
For track day and motorsports country club drivers, the GT-4 CS is a great entry level car with everything needed for an exhilarating day at the track. The heavily optioned GT-4 RS positions above the GT-4 CS, and is a more cost-effective option to the Porsche GT-3 RS.
