Even though there is an all-new Mustang slated to arrive at dealerships next spring, there are still lots and lots of reasons to want a 2014 Ford Mustang. We could start with the 420 horsepower Coyote 5.0 V8 engine, the awesome suspension and handling improvements, or the retro-tastic good looks that are impossible to ignore. Unfortunately all of that greatness comes with a hefty price-tag, making saving up enough money to buy a brand new Mustang is an incredible accomplishment for any Ford fan.
That said, not everyone has the patience or scruples to get their Mustang the “legal” way, opting instead for shady tactics that will put them in the driver’s seat. The Bangor Daily News reports that a man from Wilton, Maine was arrested after he used a bunch of stolen goods, including a lawnmower, as a down payment on a new Mustang.
Richard Irish, 32, was arrested on allegations that he stole a number of items from a residence he was inhabiting (presumably renting). Among the stolen goods were a four-wheeler, which Irish allegedly sold (but was recovered) along with a weed whacker, and leaf blower. The big ticket item was a riding lawn mower, which Irish took to a local Ford dealer.
Irish allegedly traded the lawnmower in as a down payment on a new Mustang convertible. The article doesn’t specify if the Mustang was a V6 or GT model, though judging from Irish’s other decisions, it was probably a V6. Irish was arrested and released on a $1,500 bond. We wonder if this dealership takes washing machines as a trade-in as well?
