Two weeks ago the sixth installment of the venerable Fast and Furious series hit theaters, becoming the largest-grossing film of the entire weekend, and maybe even the whole year. It is a hell of a way to launch the sixth movie in a series, and it unfortunately means that a seventh installment is all but assured. At least the cars are getting cooler -for the most part.
If the cars are getting cooler, so is the merchandise. One of the cooler pieces of Fast and Furious 6 merch is this 1969 Ford Mustang remote-controlled car from Nikko. Based on the Mustang driven by one of the main characters, right before it is crushed by a tank.
Without giving away any spoilers, in the movie the Mustang is driven by Roman, Paul Walker’s character’s childhood friend introduced in 2 Fast 2 Furious. While the movie car is unceremoniously crushed by a tank, Roman appears to escape unscathed, and the action sequence certainly is one of the more memorable from the movie.
If you want a replica of the real Mustang before it was crushed, the Nikko Remote Control replica is what you’re looking for. This 1:16th scale RC car has a maximum top speed of about 5.28 mph, is powered by 4 AA batteries, and comes with a free set of drifting tires. So you can get your drift on, just like the heroes in the movie do. For fans of Mustangs and the movie series, this is one of those affordable toys that looks good in just about any collection.
