The Blue Oval is celebrating 50 years of the Mustang and its official entry into the global market through a unique partnership with Burton Morris Studios. Morris, an iconic pop culture artist, is well known for his colorful pop culture American themed paintings and sculptures.
Chosen by Ford Motor Company to create a collection of 10 Mustang pony emblems, he will emblazon each with the flag of one of 10 countries where the Mustang is or will be sold; the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
Through the program Mustang Unites, Morris, and Ford, have come together to mark this historic moment with the entrance of the 2015 Mustang into an international market. The pony badge is one of the most well- known emblems in the world, no matter where you go. It embodies a pop culture spirit and emotion, that has made a deep connection on a world-wide scale with fans, enthusiasts, and owners.
Morris’s one of a kind style expresses bright colors, and bold black outlines, that display a positive energy through all his artwork. He often uses normal everyday items that represent pop culture at its very best, including events such as the FIFA World Cup, and his signature coffee cup from the hit TV series, “Friends”.
A global pop culture icon, the pony over a fifty year time span has resulted in more than 9.2 million units sold, and has made numerous appearances on television, film, video games, music, and is the most liked vehicle in the world on Facebook with more than eight million likes.
In teaming with Morris and celebrating 50 years of history, Ford, is uniting enthusiasts from around the world through art. With the expansion of the market to more than 120 countries, and the addition of a right-hand-drive pony, Ford is ensuring a solid place in the future for not only the Mustang but for all of the blue oval line up.
The art collection, which pays tribute to the global expansion of the Ford Mustang, in addition to the creation of the pony emblem sculptures, will also include limited-edition aluminum and paper, posters and prints.
