The state of Kentucky is widely known for two things. The first is likely horse racing, but this time of year, Kentucky is also known for something else, and that’s college basketball. The University of Kentucky Wildcats, lead by their coach John Calipari (Coach Cal), are looking to do something very few have ever done in basketball history -have a perfect season. Going into the final four at Indianapolis this weekend the Wildcats are undefeated in both regular season and post season play.
Coach Cal is also known for a lot of community involvement off the court, and that includes lending his name to a signature edition Mustang. Paul Miller Ford has created several Coach Cal Mustangs over the past few years. With the Mustang an all new design this year, Coach Cal held a contest to design the latest of these limited edition cars. Submissions were sent in from all over Big Blue Nation, and in the end one of the submissions by Connor Hannan, titled “Swoosh”, was the selected.
Just in time for post season play, the car was recently unveiled at Paul Miller Ford, in Lexington, Kentucky. Coach Cal was on hand for the unveiling of the car. Featuring more than just a new basketball inspired stripe design, this Mustang has also received a few other upgrades to make it unique. The 5.0 Coyote engine is pumped up thanks to a Roush Performance/Ford Racing supercharger kit. Ktazkin Leather adorns the seats. The car rides on MOTIV Magellan 409MB 20 inch wheels with a black machined finish. Those wheels are wrapped in General G-Max tires. The entire combination is good for 627 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
The Coach Cal Mustang is a limited edition, and Paul Miller Ford is taking orders now for this one of a kind Mustang. This year’s model may prove even more valuable should the Wildcats pull off a 40-0 run, clinching the NCAA Men’s College Basketball title. We’ll know late Monday whether or not the new Mustang brought the Wildcats good luck.
