Some dudes have all the luck. They’re always at the right place, at the right time to come across a screamin’ deal. We’re always the people that hear about these deals, not the ones getting the deals. The latest deal we heard about is this 1992 Mustang. We call it a Fobra, since the previous owner had turned it into a 1993 Cobra clone.

Quite possibly the dirtiest Fox interior ever, the car’s going to need a lot of help inside. This car needs some big time help on the inside to make it nice again.
Jeff Smith, already the owner of a 10-second 2004 Cobra, is the lucky dude that happened across this Fobra. We know how much he paid for the car, but he doesn’t really want that to be public knowledge until he decides what to do with the car. As you can see, the car is rough, but everything is there to really have a nice Fox Mustang when it’s done.
The 1992 Mustang GT already has a Cervini’s Auto Designs Cobra grille insert, rear spoiler, rear bumper cover, and side skirts. However, the car’s wheels, intake, and taillights are genuine 1993 Cobra items. The car was originally a Deep Jewel green GT, which was a relatively rare color for a GT with just over 2,200 produced in 1992. The car has been repainted, but the elements have taken its toll on the car’s exterior. It’s a two-owner car that in the past had been a show car, but the last few years the car has been relegated to the proverbial back burner, leading to its sale. Smith tells us the previous owner almost scrapped the car before he stepped in to buy it, and give it a chance at a second life.

The GT’s hatch area shows the makings of an old-school system, a Flowmaster muffler, and miscellaneous interior items.
From what Smith can tell so far, and what he knows about the car, it has 4.10 gears, lowering springs, caster/camber plates, Flowmasters, Ford Racing shorty headers, and an aluminum radiator. “It’s guaranteed to win the dirtiest interior award,” Smith says. He says the car runs, drives, and most importantly, stops. Smith is going to get the car road-worthy, and then decide what to do with it. It’s safe to say the car will need a full…ahem, restoration. The car has sat for so long, and in such disrepair that someone will have to spend some time and money to return the car to its former glory.
So, what would you do with this car? Would you bring it back to life, or would you take off what you wanted, and part it out? This just proves there are deals on Fox Mustangs still to be had, but we have to find them, and bring them back to life before it’s too late. Had it not been for Smith, it would’ve been too late for this GT.

The GT’s engine is intact, and runs. The stock airbox, as you can see from the interior image, was discarded in favor of a short conical filter. The engine does have silicone hoses, an aluminum radiator, a Cobra intake, and headers. With 4.10 gears out back, the car would definitely have spirited acceleration if running right. Smith’s goal is to get it running right, and then figure out his next move with the car.
