Every year at the SEMA show, Ford goes all-out with its customized rides, bringing a plethora of cars, trucks, and even vans loaded with modifications from mild to outlandish. 2015 is no different, except for the fact that it might be Ford’s biggest SEMA appearance ever. Of course no SEMA would be complete without a battalion of customized Mustangs, and Ford is bringing eight of them to its showcase, running the whole gamut of customization.
Perhaps the craziest Mustang to make it to the SEMA show floor is a 900 horsepower EcoBoost model built by Bismoto Engineering. With nearly triple its stock power output, this blacked-out beauty comes with 14 custom-built engine and chassis parts to help it stand out. There’s also a plethora of other aftermarket parts, including a Turbonetics turbocharger, Spearco intercooler, MagnaFlow fuel pump, and a custom-designed camshaft to help take power over the 900 mark. A BuddyClub four-piston brake kit provides stopping power, while the inside features a racing harness, racing seats, and a four-point rollcage to tie it all together. Not bad for a four-cylinder Mustang, right?
In comparison, the Motoroso Mustang GT is less about raw power, and more about constant connectivity. Sure, it has a 727 horsepower Roushcharged 5.0 liter V8, Gibson true dual exhaust, and six-piston calipers with two-piece rotors for stopping potential. But the real eye-catcher here are the iPads molded into the custom trunk lid, allowing customers to interact with the Motoroso app and to share their love for the car and SEMA on social media. And if there’s one thing people love as much as Mustangs, it’s iPads and smartphones.
TS Designs went in yet another direction for its Mustang EcoBoost convertible, focusing efforts on a custom widebody kit to allow 22-inch Forgiato wheels with 13-inch wide low-profile tires out back, and slightly smaller wheels/tires up front. Under the hood are some mild performance upgrades, including a RaceTec intercooler, K&N air filter,MagnaFlow exhaust, and a suspension upgrade package from Steeda.
Mad Industries (MI) also built a sexy custom Mustang convertible, but MI opted for the V8 GT version with, surprise surprise, a supercharger on top. Making 725 horsepower, it’s no slouch compared to the competition, though it’s the striking Pure Black and Brilliant Blue paint scheme that really caught our eyes. The blue forged 21-inch wheels align well with the custom blue leather interior, which is accented by suede as well. A custom grille, mirrors, and hood art really tie this Mustang together as a real looker, even if blue-and-black might not be everybody’s cup-o-tea.
Next up is is the low-and-white Mustang EcoBoost by the Ice Nine Group, which drew its inspiration from road racing and the Shelby GT350R. It wears a custom widebody kit by Ice Nine painted in a brilliant custom white and black crystal paint, while inside the center console, steering wheel, and shift knob continue to draw inspiration from the race-ready Shelby. Of course one can’t emulate a race car without performance mods, and Ice Nine added a bigger Garrett turbo, Vortech “charge cooler”, and a prototype exhaust system from Corsa.
The boys in blue are coming to SEMA this year with their DRAGG Mustang EcoBoost sporting light bars a Vortech intercooler, Borloa exhaust, Wilwood brakes, and an Air Lift suspension, among others. DRAGG, which stands for Drag Racing Against Gangs & Graffiti, is a police-affiliated group seeking to connect with community groups in an effort to reduce gang violence and vandalism. A cool new Mustang is definitely on way to get the attention of the youth.
Arguably the tamest of the bunch, the CGS Performance Mustang EcoBoost Convertible keeps things pretty simple, adding bigger Brembo brakes, larger wheels, a TS widebody kit and a carbon fiber rear diffuser/front spoiler combo. A Steeda handling package smooths out the ride, and on the inside are Alea custom leather seats, a shifter boot, steering wheel, and door inserts. Again, definitely mild compared to the rest of the pack, but sometimes understated is the way to go.
Bringing up the rear is Bojix Design coming from our neighbors to the north, Canada. This aggressively sporty Mustang EcoBoost wears a Carbon 2 Carbon body-kit and a silver, white, and orange paint combo that promises to help it stand out from the herd. A bigger intercooler, upgraded turbocharger, coil-over suspension, Eibach sway bars, and Brembo brake kit round out the mods on this maple-infused Mustang, bringing a touch of international flair to Ford’s Mustang SEMA lineup.
We ask you readers, which one of these designs is your most/least favorite? Is it an EcoBoost, a GT, something mild, something wild, or something somewhere in between?
