Installing a supercharger is not a job for the faint of heart. While some are certainly easier than others, there is more involved than just unbolting the intake manifold and replacing it with an integrated supercharger unit. Fuel injectors will need to be replaced and additional fuel system upgrades may be required.
Whether or not body panels have to come off depends on the design of the intercooler. Those with a integral air-to-water unit are fairly easy, while the separate air-to-air intercoolers need to be installed in front of the radiator. When you think about it, there can be a big difference in installation challenges between different products.
Check out this time lapse installation of a ROUSH supercharger on one of their 2012 Stage 3 Mustangs. No, you can’t do it in just over three minutes like in the video, but it will give you a good idea of how all the components come together to build power in your Mustang.
Based of the now almost universal TVS 2300 supercharger unit, the 2012 Stage 3 Mustang delivers 540 hp after tuning with a 50-state legal calibration. Even with that power, the configuration is backed by ROUSH’s 3-year, 36,000 mile powertrain warranty.
If this video has you champing at the bit to get your ride powered up for the Spring season, ROUSH Performance does sell the supercharger kit on its own for your pony. Check out their web site for more information.
