This is another great opportunity for our WEC and IMSA teams to work together as the opportunity to data share is invaluable. — Chip Ganassi, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing

After fielding four Ford GT race cars at both the 24 Hours of LeMans and the Rolex 24, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing is looking to sweep three of the most historic endurance races in the world. To that end, three Ganassi-backed supercar racers will compete at the historic 12 Hours of Sebring later this month.

Besides offering more opportunities to compete, fielding three race cars lets the North American and International teams to work together and learn from one another.

“This is another great opportunity for our WEC and IMSA teams to work together as the opportunity to data share is invaluable,” Chip Ganassi, owner of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing, said. “There are not a lot of opportunities for us to get together so when we have the chance we will always try to take advantage of it. Plus, to be able to bring another car to a legendary endurance event like Sebring is something special to all of us.”

Hot on the heels of its success at LeMans and Daytona, Ford Performance and Chip Ganassi Racing are looking to complete a sweep of three of the most historic endurance races at Sebring International Raceway.

Even though it’s impossible to bring all of our Ford GTs, we didn’t want to see this important opportunity to continue our cross-development pass us by. — Dave Pericak, Ford Performance

Drivers Stefan Mücke, Olivier Pla and Billy Johnson will wheel the Number 68 Ford GT as they did at the Rolex 24, while the 66 car will continue to be driven by Sébastien Bourdais, Joey Hand and Dirk Müller. Likewise, Scott Dixon, Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook will continue to race the 67 Ford GT.

“We wish we could send all four cars like we did at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, but the WEC cars will already be prepped for The Prologue test at Monza and the first race at Silverstone,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “Even though it’s impossible to bring all of our Ford GTs, we didn’t want to see this important opportunity to continue our cross-development pass us by.”

We can’t wait to see how the three GTs perform on the unforgiving Sebring International Raceway surface. You can see them return to IMSA action from March 15-18, 2017.
