When founder and Chairman of the Board of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, Gary Meadors, passed away unexpectedly at his home in late December, the automotive world lost a legend like no other. A month and a half later, his death still brings about sadness in the community, but Gary was never one to let difficult times get him down for long. In honor of that, and of Gary’s life, Goodguys will be hosting a special celebration of life for their headman called Gary’s Get-Together on Sunday, February 14th, and the entire automotive community is invited!
Gary’s Get-Together will be held on Valentine’s Day at the Blackhawk Automotive Museum in Danville, California. The event will kick off at 1pm with family members, friends, association members, fans and business associates gathering to share stories and memories of the Godfather of Goodguys.
In true Goodguys fashion, approximately 200 parking spaces on the Blackhawk Plaza’s grounds will be reserved specifically for hot rods and classic cars with the hopes that many of those who attend the celebration of Gary’s life will bring out their custom cars and trucks. If you plan to attend, the Meadors family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Save the Salt Foundation.
If you are unable to attend this celebration of life but still wish to pay your respects, a special reception and video tribute will be staged at at a number of Goodguys events this year in order for you to do so.
Gary and the entire Goodguys family has always held a special place in our hearts here at Power Automedia. Our thoughts continue to be with the Meadors family during this time of mourning and the celebration of Gary’s life.
