The bright yellow 1932 Ford sedan has been a staple in the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association logo for years, but fairly soon, it could actually be a staple in your own garage. Modeled after the ‘32 deuce tudor built for Goodguys founder Gary Meadors by Chip and Sam Foose in the 1980s, the logo car is currently being transformed into a life-size model, complete with cartoonish design, by Kindig-It Design to be given away as the Grand Prize Giveaway Car for the 2013/2014 season. We’ve seen plenty of note-worthy giveaway cars come from Goodguys in the last few years, but this one has got to be one of our ultimate favorites with an undeniable tie to the history of the hot rod industry and Goodguys itself.

We got a look at Gary Meadors' '32 Ford that inspired the Goodguys logo car when we sat down with the Association founder and his son recently.
Owner of Salt Lake City, Utah’s Kindig-It Design, Dave Kindig, and his crew have been hard at work for months creating the real-life version of the iconic Goodguys logo car set to debut at the 2012 SEMA Show.
The all-steel deuce tudor is being done “hiboy” style. Featuring a stretched nose, 2 ½-inch chop, Waldon Sheet Metal filled roof, forward-leaning grill, custom Direct Sheet Metal roll pan and floor panels, Kindig-It constant radius door hinges, raised rear wheel wells and much more to give the car a cartoonish look congenerous to the hot rod depicted in the Goodguys logo since 1987. The design will be topped off with Goodguys Yellow PPG paint and custom graphics similar to those on the original car.
Of course, to be a usable car, the Kindig-It hot rod has to have all the working components to back up its looks, which have been supplied by a variety of industry leading companies. In addition to a Pinkee’s Rod Shop ‘32 chassis matched with a quick change rearend from Speedway Motors, Wilwood disc brakes and Billet Specialties wheels, the hot rod will be equipped with a GM Performance Ramjet 350 with custom Arizona Speed intake that is matted to a Hughes Performance transmission.

Although the Goodguys logo recently underwent a redesign to include the Association's latest Project G/RS Camaro, it still includes a cartoon depiction of Meador's '32 hot rod that acted as inspiration for the 2013/2014 Giveaway car.
The interior of the car will feature Goodguys edition custom gauges from Classic Instruments, Tea’s “Posies” style front seats with matching Tea’s light linen ultra leather rear seat, and other finishing touches handled by JS Custom Interiors, also in Salt Lake.
Once the car is complete and makes its SEMA Show debut, it will travel with Goodguys across the country before being handed off to its lucky new owner at the 2014 PPG Nationals.
We can’t wait to see the logo car come to life and join the ever growing Goodguys family. Be sure to look for the car at SEMA this fall and at your local Goodguys events starting next year.
