Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has always pushed the limit when it comes to tire technology whether it be the in the slick or radial market. With their latest tire on the market, the 3062R Pro Drag Radial, Mickey Thompson has transformed the world of Radial vs. The World/Pro Drag Radial racing with numerous teams during No Mercy VI at South Georgia Motorsports Park bolting on the new 3062R instead of the tried and true 3763R.

Two-Time NMCA Radial Wars champion, Keith Berry, has been a supporter of the 3062R tire since it’s debut back in February. Berry won his second NMCA title this season running the tire, as well.

Coming into No Mercy, numerous teams had run the 3062R during its limited availability throughout the season, but with it becoming more available to the public, more teams chose the new tire after seeing how well it works on all track conditions. The now two-time NMCA Radial Wars champion, Keith Berry, has run the tire all year and he rolled into No Mercy VI with a new set bolted on his well-known WOOO! Nation Corvette. Brad Edwards and Jamie Hancock each ran a set of these tires at Radial Fest back in May and both came into SGMP with a new set bolted on and data in their favor, just like the aforementioned Berry.

After four grueling and competitive rounds of qualifying, Mickey Thompson’s newest tire on the product line now holds the ET World Record for a Drag Radial car in RVW/PDR trim as Jeff Sitton from Dallas, TX took his nitrous-oxide assisted Chevrolet Camaro known as Hyde, to the top of the leaderboard with an astounding 3.909 at 192.74 miles per hour to take number-one Qualifier honors and grab the world record. Rick Thornton, also from Texas, took his small block, twin-turbocharged ’65 Chevrolet Corvette to the number-two spot right behind Sitton with a 3.963 at 196.39 miles per hour.

Jamie Hancock (#4) and Brad Edwards (#5) also joined Sitton and Thornton in the three-second zone on the newest tire technology to roll out of the Ohio based facility. Not to be overlooked, Keith Berry stood eighth with a 4.02, Stevie ‘Fast’ Jackson rounded out the Top 10 with a 4.05, Frank Mewshaw clocked in with a 4.06 and David DeMarco snuck into the top half of the quickest radial field ever with a 4.08 to sit 14th in qualifying.

Stevie ‘Fast’ Jackson put ‘The Shadow’ into the 3-Second Club on the sticky Mickeys with a 3.99 in Round 2 of Eliminations.

With the limited two rounds of eliminations for Radial vs. The World due to inclement weather, MT 3062R warriors went rounds and more consistent elapsed times, highlighted with Stevie ‘Fast’ Jackson busting into the 3-Second Club with a 3.99 in Round 2 before the rains hit and ended No Mercy with eight cars remaining.
