If you’ve ever dreamed of ordering and owning a genuine Shelby Mustang, well there’s no better time than the present. Ford has launched the online configurator for the Shelby GT350 and GT350R, letting actual buyers and fanboys alike tinker and toy with their idea of the perfect GT350. We’ll forgive you if you run off to play with the configurator right now.
For the rest of you, we’ll do the heavy lifting and let you know what your favorite options will set you back. Fair warning, you’re looking at Dodge Hellcat-like pricing, despite just a handful of options.
Because the Track Package and Technology Package are mutually exclusive, we opted to build a Tri-Coat Yellow ($495) Shelby GT350R ($61,295) with a black roof ($695) and black racing stripes ($495). Not wanting to forgo basic niceties, we also added the Electronics Package ($3,000). The Electronics Package adds the SYNC 3 infotainment system, voice-activated navigation, and an actual, ya know, radio. The standard $61,295 GT350R doesn’t even have a radio, you see, and if you want to blast some classical thunder to go with the unfettered roar of the 526 horsepower 5.2 liter V8, you have to shell out three grand for the privilege
All told, a fully-specced GT350R is going to set you back $66,860. If that’s just out of your price range, a similarly-specced “standard” GT350 with the $7,500 Technology Package is about $9,000 less ($57,860, according to Ford’s configurator). But you probably know that by now, don’t you? Let us know in the comments below how your perfectly-specced Shelby GT350 (or GT350R) came out.
