As the time of the Fox-body drew to a close, Ford developed a few special packages to get the public’s attention and keep the cars selling. Among those were the Summer Edition cars. Offered as convertibles, the Summer Edition Stangs were available in 1992, and 1993. For 1992 the cars were vibrant red with white convertible tops, white interior and white 16-inch pony wheels. In 1993 a triple-white version and a bright yellow with black top and interior, and chrome Pony wheels was offered. All of the summer edition cars also came with a unique rear spoiler rather than the luggage rack that was standard on regular Mustang convertibles.
That brings us to the subject of this eBay find, item number 111160757896 . Listed by Marion Performance Motors in West Palm Beach, Florida, this car is one of the lowest mileage Fox-body cars we’ve seen for sale in some time. With just over 400 miles on the odometer, this vibrant red 1992 Summer Edition convertible is begging to spend the last few weeks of warm weather for much of the country cruising some back roads and taking in the fall scenery..
According to the listing in 1992 only 2,193 Summer Edition cars were built, of those only 787 were equipped with a five-speed transmission, including this one, which adds to the collectability of the car.
This car is practically brand new, and the seller has a starting bid of $19,000, which is probably close to what the cars listed for when new. We don’t know whether we’d drive this one or have to put it away in a museum. It sure would look good cruising this fall with the top down. Is it worth $19k? What would you do with it?
