One of the most iconic automobiles from the latter half of the 20th century will be celebrating its 50th birthday next year. The Ford Mustang has seen a long and prestigious career since its inception at the Dearborn plants in Michigan on March 9th, 1964. To this day it is still evolving and represents the only original pony car to remain in uninterrupted production for over five decades!
Goodguys will be doing its part to honor this iconic automobile by setting its sights for one lucky Mustang at each of the Goodguys events during the 2014 show season. “A Special 50th Anniversary Mustang will be selected at each 2014 Goodguys event from the ‘Mighty Muscle’ parking area.”
If you’ve been to a Goodguys event you’ll know that they’re pretty good about organizing their lots into distinguishable groupings. The “Mighty Muscle” parking area is held at all Goodguys events on Saturday mornings from 7:00 a.m. until noon.
If you wish to contend for the award you must park in this specific lot as the folks at Goodguys will only scout for Mustangs parked in that specific area.
In the spirit of paying homage to the entirety of the auto industry Goodguys Rod and Custom Association will also be selecting the 50th anniversary Pontiac GTO and Chevrolet Chevelle awards from the “Mighty Muscle” parking areas as well.
We can only guess what the 2014 50th anniversary awards will culminate to – a top five or maybe a power tour invitational? Who knows! All we know is that we’re excited to see the list of picks grow throughout the 2014 season.
