A staple of Mustang performance since the mid 1990’s the Si trim Vortech supercharger kit is a popular seller at AFM

Anderson Ford Motorsport has been a major player in the Mustang performance game for quite some time. We recently took a few minutes to talk with AFM’s Brian Kostner about what’s hot right now. “Vortech supercharger kits remain a big seller for our Fox-body customers. Our core business even 20 years after they stopped building them, is still Fox-body Mustangs,” says Kostner.

It’s easy to see why, according to Kostner AFM has worked closely with Vortech to create some special supercharger packages specifically for Fox-body Mustangs. “Most of our customers are street enthusiasts, but we get a few hardcore drag racers too,” says Kostner, who says they have what both need, and try to keep it in stock. Superchargers have been popular with Mustang enthusiasts for decades, and it’s easy to see why. Forced induction offers great horsepower potential for the dollars invested.

AFM Vortech packages begin with the versatile Si kit. This supercharger allows a properly equipped Fox-body to make anywhere from 475 to 500 hp at the rear wheels. Stepping things up is the Ti kit, which pushes things to the 490-625 hp range.

Last but not least is the legendary YSi. This kit is used by hardcore street enthusiasts and racers alike to put big power to the tires. YSi kits enable properly outfitted Fox-body Mustangs to make 600-900 hp at the tires according to Kostner.

Kostner says AFM offers extremely competitive pricing on these supercharger packages. Pricing for the stage 1 Si kit starts at under $3,100, with the Ti starting at $3,275, and the Ysi starting at $3,500.

AFM packages their stage one kits to include the famous AFM Power Pipe, as well as in some cases upgrades to the fuel system and ignition systems necessary to get everything going (varies by kit).
