It’s always nice to know that when a part is a popular part with a manufacturer, that they discontinue it. For whatever reason, the popular EFI wiring harness for the Fox-body Mustang recently became unavailable from Ford. Not to worry, though, because Ron Francis Wiring brought their new 5.0L EFI harness for the 1987-93 Mustang with them to SEMA. The harness itself is make to be a direct plug in harness, with no splicing necessary of any wires.
Without the support from Ford, Scott Bowers, President of Ron Francis Wiring, said, “That left people with no other option than to find a decent harness at a wrecking yard, or try the difficult task of repairing their damaged harness.” Bowers told us that many of the plugs have gotten to be very expensive, and by the time all parts have been acquired and time expended, it might just be wiser to replace the entire harness.
They do plan to add to the line a plug and play harness for engine swaps to the Fox-body Mustang, particularly the Coyote 5.0L engine, to add to their 4.6L engine swap harness. They also brought out a transmission harness for the same vehicle, which allows car owners to easily replace a damaged harness.
The transmission harness is available for manual or automatic, and like the EFI harness it’s a direct replacement for the factory harness. With companies like Ron Francis Wiring stepping up to provide simple, cost-effective and time saving solutions for older vehicles like this, more time can be spent on the road than in the garage trying to repair damaged or burnt wiring.
