The love of cars is often something that remains a common thread in families, we often say “it’s in our blood”. For Michael Mullins it all started on his trip home from the hospital, shortly after his birth. Mullins’ grandmother owned a 1968 Mustang Fastback (which she still has today), and that was the car newborn Michael would make the trip home from the hospital in.
Fast forward to around thirty years later and Mullins was planning to start a family with his wife Kayla, a kindred spirit in the car hobby. His 1993 5.0 LX hatchback has been in his possession since his high school days back in 1999, a car he plans to pass on to his child someday. Anytime Mullins would take his pregnant wife for a ride in the 5.0 and rev the engin, the baby would respond “I’d rev the Stang he would go crazy kickin so I knew he was like his daddy,” says Mullins.
Having a large collection of Mustang, Ford, and car related toys and memorabilia and looking to pass the car bug onto their new son, the Mullins decided to decorate their soon to be born baby boy’s room in a Mustang theme. “I have a vast collection of Mustangs toys (over 200 hotwheels and 30 big diecast) so I figured why not make my sons room a Mustang room and put up signs and cars. What red blooded American boy wouldn’t love that.” Mixed in among the typical baby decor is an assortment of Mustang and Ford related signs, posters, hubcaps, license plates, emblems, and even the tailgate panel from a Ford pickup.
Earlier this year Kayla gave birth to their baby boy, and the couple decided to name him Paxton, yes after the legendary supercharger company. This youngster is sure to be raised a Ford fanatic and Mustang aficionado just like his parents.
