Time is something that many of us take for granted. We get caught up in our jobs, our hobbies, and the daily grind that goes on all around us. For Joe Greenwich and his son Chris, time is something that they both cherish and wish they could get back. In 2012, the Greenwich family lost a son and a brother who could never be replaced. J.W. Greenwich, at the age of thirty, lost his life in a motorcycle accident. To honor his memory, the Greenwich family decided to embark upon a family project that they could use to show the world what love and time can accomplish if you choose to not get lost by your loss.
“After my son’s death, my younger son Chris said that we should do a project car in his memory. He said he had a 351 from a Bronco so I went in search for something to put it in. I found a 1990 Mustang LX, bought it, and towed it home. Every Sunday we have been able to get together and spend at least five or six hours together working on it”, states Joe Greenwich.
Joe Greenwich and his son Chris have completely refurbished the LX. Power comes from a 0.030 over 351 swapped in to the engine bay, a host of MSD ignition parts, stainless headers with stainless Pypes exhaust. Power makes it’s way to the transmission via a Ford Racing King Cobra clutch. The interior was completely overhauled including the edition of an LED lighted instrument cluster.
Outside the car has been lowered two-inches, and the revived pony rides on 17-inch SVT wheels, lowered two inches Recently a fresh coat of Tangerine Red mixed by Chris Greenwich himself was applied as a finishing touch to the exterior. The transformation of this LX has made it into a work of art that will appeal to any pony fan. This Mustang has become more than a project car for the Greenwich family. It has become an accomplishment that neither of them will ever forget and will always cherish.
“My son was a great young man and learned a lot from watching his dad and others just doing anything. He was never afraid to tackle a project himself and this project that we tackled honors that about him. He was a hard worker, nice to everyone who knew him, and enjoyed family and life. We will miss him always, but he will always have a seat in our Mustang to enjoy the ride ahead as we try to move ahead in our lives with him being with us in spirit”, says Joe Greenwich.
When the Mustang is complete, the Greenwich family intend to take it to local shows knowing that their departed loved one is proud of what they have accomplished in his memory.
