Back in May, we ran an article on Chris Holbrook’s super-sweet Varsity Ford-sponsored 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang and the team’s record-setting performances in NHRA AAA/SA competition over the last couple of years. At the time, we mentioned Holbrook’s brand-new Watson Racing-sponsored Super Stocker that was in the testing stages when we shot the photos of the Cobra Jet. 

The Super Stock machine is alive and well, as you can see from this badass in-car video of the car from this past weekend’s NHRA event held at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. The car has already put together some of the quickest runs in Super Stock history back at the Gatornationals with a 7.900 and 7.902 on his way to the event win that weekend. 

Here at Summit Motorsports Park, Holbrook qualified 30th in an insane field of 70 Super Stock machines, running a best qualifying time of 8.10 on his 8.80 dial heading into the elimination sessions. There, he faced off against Bob Lowry in the first round and was super-late on the tree — an uncharacteristic showing for the longtime racer from Michigan.

But we digress — Classracer.com produced this awesome in-car video footage for us to check out. Holbrook stages the car to prepare for the run, and it feels like you should be watching a Pro Stock run except for the factory dashboard in the frame. Holbrook works the Liberty five-speed transmission into gear, hits the wood with the throttle pedal, and gets the car up on the rear tires and out of the hole, when the dash plug goes flying into the back seat area.
