Ford’s Special Vehicles Team, or SVT, has been very busy in the past year. The most recent and prominent news of course is that of the 650 horsepower, 200+ mph 2013 Shelby GT500 Mustang. But SVT has also been working its magic on the 2012 Ford F-150 Raptor, which came with a host of new upgrades including a Torsen differential and a front-mounted camera for 2012.
While we’ve seen plenty of videos of the F-150 Raptor flying through deserts and over high jumps, it turns out this brute of a pickup is capable of climbing some pretty badass trails too. And with a name like “Hell’s Revenge Trail,” which sits in Moab, Utah, you know this is one mean road.
In fact, Hell’s Revenge is one of the toughest off-road trails in the country, with many obstacles well beyond the capabilities of stock vehicles. Then again, for a factory-built pickup, the F-150 Raptor is well beyond a “stock” truck, able to take on steep inclines like the Belly Button Hot Tub, and narrow valleys like Hell’s Gate.
Unlike previous F-150 Raptor videos from Ford, there isn’t a lot of fast-paced action; this is a slow crawl, showing how the F-150 handles the many different aspects of off-roading a treacherous trail like Hell’s Revenge. And we have a whole new respect for just what the SVT team, and the F-150 Raptor, is capable of.
