Car thieves are the lowest of the low, and stealing a man’s car is just about the worst crime one human can visit on the other. That may be a little exaggerated, but the the feeling of violation is often worse than the loss of property. People form attachments to cars that cannot be priced, and insurance companies don’t cover the mental cost of that kind of loss.
The Moorabbin Leader reports that a local man, devastated by the loss of his ‘67 Eleanor Mustang replica, is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the return of the car.
Eleanor recreations have become popular with the Mustang crowd the world over, and these cars can run upwards of $100,000 before adding any options. The victim, who wished to remain anonymous and lives in Moorabbin, Australia, has hired a private eye and doubled the initial reward from $5,000 to $10,000 for any information leading to the return of his Mustang.
The private eye, Geoff Francis, says that though insurance kicked in, the victim is still out about $80,000 on the car, which was valued at around $130,000. That’s a bitter pill to swallow for just about anyone, and hopefully the offer of a decent reward will lead to some good information that help this man get his prized Mustang back.
