The Lunati Great Cam Giveaway contest for Stang TV is officially OVER! But the contest will continue for the next two weeks on our sister magazine, lsxmag.com. So, if you know any LSx engine fans looking for a cam, send them that way – they will be announcing their contest tomorrow!
Our Final Winner
The final winner of our Cam Giveaway is our first modular Mustang winner in the contest, owned by Scott Van Hoose. We had followed Scott’s Saleen Mustang rebuild a few months ago, where it truly shows how dedicated he is to rebuilding his Saleen Mustang. In addition to the link, here is Scott’s story:
I would love to be the winner of one of your Lunati cams, I have used Lunati for years. In 1993 I built my 89 Saleen 306 with Lunati blower cam built in Fla. specific to it. 10:66 @ 130 mph 1/4 mile… not bad for that year. I know have a 2005 Saleen S 281 Supercharged putting down 495 whp and 465 wtq. Im getting ready to build it to 302 stroker with your cams. I was in the Joplin, MO. Tornado lost our house, lightning truck, and damaged the Saleen badly, with everyone’s help we have rebuilt the Saleen Mustang and have found a Glass Roof I will get it back in 3 weeks, its been a ruff 10 months but things are looking up. Scott Van Hoose Cam NO. 58000 Lunati
Scott’s Cam Choice – Lunati PN 58000
Great gains for stock motor. Likes a 3.73 gear and a 2500 stall. Great sound. Works with stock springs and tune. No phaser mod required.
Last Week’s Winner
While a lot of people sell their Mustangs as they get old, it says a lot for someone that holds onto their pony car for nearly 150,000 miles. It’s even harder to keep any engine running reliably at over 234,000 miles, which is why our pick for this week’s winner goes out to Chris Sears. His poor Mustang is definitely in the need of the 347 Chris plans to build for it, and we want to make that build easier by supplying Chris his dream cam, a part number 61012. Below is Chris’ story.
I have had my 1993 Ford Mustang GT for 10 yrs. It had 94,000 miles on the car when I purchased it to replace a 1993 Ford Mustang lx 5.0 I purchased that was rear ended and totaled. I am still driving it with now having 234,000 miles. This has been the best car I have ever owned and still love it. This was my everyday driver for 6 years. That is why I am building me a 347 Stroker to put in it. It would really be nice to but a Voodoo Lunati Cam (Part #61012) in it to make it perform at it’s best. I am going to drive it on the street and strip. Planning on repainting it and putting a Tremec TKO500 or TKO600 in it and 3:55 gears to be able to drive it to Bowling Green NMRA World Finals that I attend every year.
Hydraulic roller, lopey idle. Hi performance cam for street/strip applications. Excellent for 331-347 stroker engines with Mass-Air type fuel injection (may require computer mods). Needs 9.75-10.1 compression ratio, aftermarket 180-205cc heads and induction, 2500-2800 stall or 5 speed and 3.73 rear gears.
- Excellent Nitrous or Supercharger cam also!
- Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 282/290
- Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 231/239
- Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .571/.587
- LSA/ICL: 112/108
- Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
- RPM Range: 2400-6400
Previous Week’s Winner – Dylan Anderson
Dylan Anderson is similar to a couple other stories we got, he’s a young guy building a father-and-son project whose a little low on funds. But hey, didn’t we all? This Mustang though, is Dylan’s very first project car. An ’86 Mustang with a ’69 351 Windsor, the ‘Stang is a bit of an odd-duck, but a cool one nonetheless.
Dylan and his father have been working on this car for close to two years and in the final stages of completion. So far, the Windsor is bored over .30 and still touts the factory heads and camshaft, something which desperately needs upgrading. Since we’re big proponents of supporting fathers-and-sons building cars together, we’re going to grant your wish and award you a Voodoo hydraulic cam for your Windor (PT#61001).
The Lunati/powerTV “Great Cam Giveaway” is still going strong! This massive three-month-long contest is giving away 30 camshafts over the next 90 days, so you’ve got plenty of time to enter to win!
