We all have a vision of race car drivers as these rockstars who work hard and party harder. We assume they all live in huge houses with hallways wide enough to drive a car through and have underground garages packed with every single one of their dream cars. Yet the truth is a lot more humbling than the fiction that race car drivers are super wealthy elitists.
SpeedHunter’s own Larry Chen recently took a trip to Maryland to check out the home of 2010 Formula Drift Champion an all-around racing rockstar Vaughn Gittin Jr. And the G-man’s home and garage are a lot more down to Earth than you might think.
Why Maryland? Well Vaughn Gittin Jr. was born and raised in this humble state, and while it is small, there are ample locations for serious hoonage. Out back of Gittin’s home is a rock quarry that makes a perfect playground the Formula Drift champ and his friends to practice their hand-eye coordination. What off-road racer wouldn’t want a quarry in their own back yard?
The tour through Gittin’s house continues, and we implore you to check out Chen’s whole piece over at SpeedHunters. There are literally dozens of pictures, so it is well worth checking out. Our favorite place though naturally is the garage/man cave, and Gittin’s collection is cars is surprisingly sentimental. We won’t spoil the surprise, but the man has an eclectic collection of vehicles to say the least.
