How do you know you’ve “made it”? We mean really made it, in the sense that you’re famous enough that people on the street recognize who you are and what you do. If you’re a race car driver of any sort, “making it” may not come for months or even years after you’ve actually won a big championship race. But once you do make it, the perks are many.
Formula Drift driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. won the Formula Drift Championship back in 2010, and since then he’s enjoyed large crowds and YouTube fame that has allowed him to build a special edition Mustang of his own design. The car, a ‘69 Mustang RTR-X, has been turned into a remote-controlled car by HPI Racing. Yes, Gittin has definitely made it.
This is actually an improved version of the RTR-X RC racer that was released last year. This one of the few electric Mustangs in the world, albeit at 1/10th scale. This 4-wheel drive RC racer is remarkably complex for a “toy”, featuring Work Meister S1 wheels set up with tires designed specifically for drifting. Yup, even Gittin’s RC car is setup to drift.
With full ball bearings and new waterproof electronics combined with four-wheel drive system, the RTR-X RC Mustang can go places a real Mustang would never dream of. The new 2.4 ghz radio controller setup allows for long range, glitch-free control of this awesome mud-slinging Mustang RC car. The new kit also includes a rechargable 7.2 volt Plazma battery pack and AC charger to plug into your wall.
We think it’s safe to say that Gittin has made it, and his Mustang RC car is proof positive of that.
