America’s all-volunteer military force is the most powerful and technologically-advanced army in the history of the world. Even so, this country still relies on brave young men and women to put themselves in harms way to protect our way of life, and not all of our soldiers return home alive. To remember and honor these fallen heroes are a number of charities who use the money from numerous benefits to take care of wounded veterans and their families.
One such charity is Fueled by the Fallen, which has built race cars for each branch of the military. On Thursday, the Fueled by the Fallen Mustang crossed the auction block. This 10-second Mustang sold for $16,000, with the proceeds going to benefit the Fueled by the Fallen charity organization.
This drag racing machine packs some serious horsepower. Under the hood of this 1993 Mustang is a 460 cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet engine, though the most important feature isn’t the motor. Instead, it is the names of all the servicemen and women who have lost their lives since the September 11th attacks back in 2001.
This car has some serious star power behind it too. On hand to help sell the car was Kevyn Major Howard, better known as “Rafterman” from Stanley Kubrick’s famous war movie “Full Metal Jacket.” John McCain has also seen the car, as has former Governor Mike Huckabee. We’re surprised this Mustang only fetched $16,000, though we’re sure the money will go a long way towards helping those who sacrifice so much to protect our country.
