Next week marks the official beginning of the North American International Auto Show in the heart of car country, Detroit. While most of the buzz surrounds General Motors and the next-gen Corvette C7, Shelby American has made it clear that they will have more than a few cars worth checking out on the showroom floor.
While we are certainly excited to hear that an EcoBoost Shelby could be in the works, President John Luft confirmed to the Detroit Free Press that a new “gotta have” Super Snake model will be revealed next week in Detroit.
Luft has hinted that EcoBoost will certainly be a part of Shelby’s future plans, using Carroll Shelby’s own words as a wink towards what to expect next week. In addition to an already-confirmed widebody kit for all Shelby Mustangs, the next mystery vehicle has been confirmed by Luft to be a Super Snake…the ultimate Super Snake.
Does that mean the “gotta have” Super Snake is EcoBoost powered? Could the twin-turbo Mustang Cobra Jet that Ford produced for SEMA be a sign of things to come from Shelby? It is hard to say right now, but all indications seem to be pointing that way…and we’re predicting close to 1,000 horsepower, if not more. Would you expect any less from Shelby?
