Being rich and famous has its perks. For one thing, all that money affords you the luxury of buying pretty much whatever you want. Another bonus is that you’re often friends with other famous people of means, who tend to give lavish, exotic, and awesome gifts. While most of us might be happy with a card and a check for $25 for our birthday, some celebrities go over-the-top with their gifts.

Mustang Heaven reports that a 1968 Shelby GT500 given to Sean Penn by Madonna is up for grabs. Already worth a small fortune, is this twice-touched-by-star-power Shelby worth even more than your regular, run-of-the-mill GT500?

It depends on who you ask, and if they’re Madonna or Sean Penn fans. Back in 1985, Penn married Madonna in a whirlwind Hollywood romance, one that was marred by violence, rumors, and paparazzi. But before all of that, the happy couple got hitched, and for a wedding present Madonna presented Penn with this ‘68 Shelby GT500.

Penn would drive around town in the Shelby with his friends that included Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, often getting into trouble. After his marriage to Madonna ended though, Penn sold the Mustang, and the current owner has decided to part ways with it as well. The asking price of $135,000 is about on par with standard Shelby pricing, though there is no note of what kind of condition this car is in.
