The Ford Mustang is one of the best-known vehicles around the whole world, and for good reason. It’s one of the most popular cars ever created, and is in many ways considered the epitome if America itself. So even countries where Mustangs aren’t sold can be found incorporating the Ford pony car into racing series and promotions.
Up on eBay is a Ford Mustang race car with little information and a very high price, and more than a few clerical errors. Even so, we wouldn’t mind adding this race car to our virtual collection. We’re quite sure the seller meant 2002, not 1992, judging from the look of this race car.
About the only Mustangs you’ll find in South Africa are the classic first-gen models imported by wealthy collectors. That’s not to say South Africa doesn’t have its fair share of race cars, especially the V8 series road racing. This Mustang has been competing in the WesBank V8 Supercar series, which has a similar setup to the Australian V8 Supercar series we’re more familiar with.
The engine is supposedly a tuned 351W backed by a Jerico transmission. The only other info given about the car is that it has four-piston calibers and disc brakes all around, and the email address seems to indicate that a towing company has the car currently. It could be a repossession, or simply time to retire this Mustang racer after five seasons. It’d take a deep pocket to get this car shipped from South Africa to the U.S., but to the right person, it might just be worth it.
