The Ford Mustang is a popular prize giveaway for a variety of causes and contests, and while most of these are factory-fresh vehicles, every now and then a custom ride goes up for grabs. What happens to these cars, these prizes that many lust for but only one can win? We imagine they go through a wide gamut of fates, and at least one recent, high-profile Mustang prize has ended up on the auction website eBay.
The Falken Tire Mustang Giveaway culminated in November of last year, with the prize going to a winner identified only as Kenny. The car was modified by Formula Drift drivers Justin Pawlak and Vaughn Gittin Jr., and the owner seemed genuinely smitten with his new ride. So why is it on eBay?
The Falken Tire giveaway drew over 100,000 entrants from when it was announced until a winner was selected. The winner, Kenny, received a Mustang that had been painted a vivid green color and sported a supercharger, Brembo brakes, a Ford Racing suspension, HRE wheels, a RTR body kit, and a host of other upgrades that put it on par with any ROUSH and Shelby. It’s a unique ride to be sure.
With 3,845 miles on this Mustang, it seems like at the very least, it’s been driven a fair amount since the November giveaway (assuming it was an almost 0-mile car when modified). Did the winner tire of this hot Mustang? Were the insurance costs too high? Or maybe he just hoping to cash in, considering the $69,900 asking price. To each their own, right? With $70,000, after taxes, you could get a Mustang GT and still have money left over for a down payment on a house. Given the opportunity, what would you do?
