Of course he’s back at it again! Formula Drift champ, Vaughn Gittin Jr., has a powerful brand new 2014 Ford Mustang RTR sporting a bold new look, but still remains recognizable as his mean, green drifting monster.
This time around, the RTR has 845 horses coming from an aluminum Roush/Yates Racing Engine/Ford Mustang V8 mated to a 4-speed transmission. With a weight of 2900 lbs., it’s lighter than before and capable of some crazy hoonage.
Obviously, the new Mustang pays homage to its sponsors, Nitto Tire and Monster Energy, as it still is recognizable with its black and bright green colors. Over the past ten years, Vaughn has proved himself to be quite the driver and household name as the “Tire Slayer”, with fans everywhere anxious to go home with one of his shredded tires, a photo, or an autograph.
“I’m really pumped on this years’ livery and overall aesthetics surrounding our efforts,” says Vaughn. “For the first time in my career, I have been able to start from a clean slate and get a bit crazy with the look of my car that I will be using for battle. Being that the Mustang is my weapon of choice out there on the track, the base of the livery was inspired from old battle ships that were covered with ‘dazzle camo’. From there, we added my XX5 (#25) logo and flag elements, along with some of my favorite colors and a little rock n’ roll to get a livery that I feel really portrays me. I look forward to giving it some real battle scars!”
He will be conquering courses everywhere including the Formula Drift Championship, taking over China in World Drift Series, as well as tackling quite a few events over in Europe, and making appearances at military bases. For more information and his schedule check out his website here!
