We’re big fans of the Barrett-Jackson auctions. In fact at our house the weekend of the Scottsdale event is blocked out on our calendar every year so we can watch, drool, and discuss the amazing cars that roll through. History is often made at these auctions, setting the standard for collector prices for the next year.
Barrett-Jackson events are also a chance to see some of those unique, and historic cars that may never be seen by the public again. In this case we’re referring to this particular 2012 Shelby GT350, not just any GT350, this is serial number 1. The car is a convertible, with the full widebody treatment. It has been used in Shelby promotional and sales materials, and featured in the company’s museum. Not only is this serial number one, but it’s also a car that served as a development vehicle for Shelby American.
Performance under the hood matches the stance and good looks. Under that bulging hood scoop there’s a supercharged Coyote 5.0 cranking out 624 hp. The package is good for a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds, and the quarter mile blazes by in the 11.60 range, making this one of the fastest production Mustangs ever built. It’s not all about straight-line performance either, as the car pulls 1.05g on the skid-pad, meaning there’s grip to match that power.
This one of a kind GT350, lot number 750, will cross the auction block next weekend, and should be one of the premiere sellers at the Barrett-Jackson Vegas event. We have no guess on how much this one will sell for, we just hope the winning bidder will get it out and show it to the public, instead of hiding it away for decades.
