YouTube has a policy against leaving videos showing dangerous or illegal activities up on their website – to skirt it, you’ll find a lot of street racing videos have the disclaimer “shot on a back road in Mexico” in the description, even if it’s clearly the middle of the 405 freeway in metro Los Angeles.

Putting aside the obvious disrespect this shows for our neighbors to the south (Mexico does have, and often enforces, traffic safety laws, after all), we have managed to find at least one video that actually WAS shot in Mexico, and it’s a doozy.

As the footage starts, we see a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 about to face off against a silver C5 Corvette on a rural road that is barely wide enough for both cars, and lined with spectators on either side. The Chevy has traction problems from the very beginning, and the pendulum swing of its tail end gets wider and wider, barely missing the SUV next to it a couple of times before heading off into the weeds and out of frame as our intrepid cameraman decides getting the hell out of the way is more important than getting the shot.

A few seconds and a lot of swearing in Spanish later, the Corvette is back in frame, halfway turned around and partially in a ditch on the opposite side of the road from where it started.

All is well, though; at the end of the video, we see a “successful” rematch between the two as they roar down the one-and-a-half-lane farm road with barely enough room between them to insert a baseball cap, let alone a giant novelty sombrero…
