We love eBay. True, the online auction site has made scoring a bargain much more difficult in recent years due to its exploding popularity, and the price on rare items quickly reaches astronomical levels once the word is out. We also find some very interesting items on the eBay, things that raise an eyebrow or two because we weren’t exactly expecting to see them on eBay so soon.
The items in question is a set of red 2012 BOSS 302 Mustang Wheels on eBay for $1,150. Three of the wheels are in excellent condition, while the forth has some damage. The big question here though is where did these BOSS wheels come from?
The 2012 BOSS 302 Mustang comes in two flavors; the standard, 440 horsepower BOSS 302, and the track-ready BOSS 302 Mustang Laguna Seca Edition. The Laguna Seca Edition is the costlier of the two (though official prices haven’t yet been set) and comes with everything needed to go from the street to the track. It does away with the rear seats and many of the things that make the Mustang comfortable in favor of a tighter suspension and most of the BOSS 302R’s aerodynamic bodykit. It’s sure to be a popular vehicle among Mustang fans and those looking to modify their cars.
The thing is, neither of the BOSS 302 Mustang’s has hit showrooms yet, so how is there a full set of four wheels from the super rare Laguna Seca edition sitting up on eBay? The eBay advertisement insists that these are in fact Ford OEM wheels, not replicas, and there one of the wheels has two small blemishes on it. These are definitely Laguna Seca wheels; notice the ten-spoke/five star setup red and silver accents. The owner even stated that he had only one of the four BOSS center caps. One of the last lines is “no one has these wheels,” which makes us wonder all the more where they came from. Off a press car perhaps? Maybe they “fell off” the back of a truck? Maybe somebody just got really lucky and knows the right guy to talk to at the right time…
