Ask any muscle car enthusiast what they love most about their cars, and inevitably they all refer back to the sound. And with good reason. They aren’t called muscle cars because they idle like wimps and whine like a cat on fire when the throttle goes down. They roar with the combined might of eight-cylinders exploding in a thunderous cacophony. Ford knew how important sound was to the BOSS name, so when they brought the BOSS 302 Mustang, even going so far as to have not one, but two different exhaust setsup; one for street, and one for the track.
SkiddMark.com put together this video of different sound clips from the 2012 BOSS 302 Mustang, offering a tight look at the different tones that emanate from this awesome muscle car.
Ford made a big deal over its exhaust cut-out system, but the real draw in this video is how the BOSS sides from different angles at different times. Even though we all enjoy the roar of our own car, it is our sworn duty as muscle car advocates to share with the world the torquey rumble of our cars. This video gives us just that, taking clips from the side and rear of the BOSS 302 as it starts up and idles. We also get a chance to hear what the BOSS 302 sounds like accelerating away at a quick clip, as well as the sounds of a flyby as the BOSS hits its rev limiter.
But arguably the best sound they saved for last. That would be the incredibly lumpy idle that comes from the uber-special TracKey, which alters the sound of your engine and opens up the gates to Horsepower Hell underneath the BOSS 302 Mustang’s hood. This video is well worth a listen. Hell, maybe Ford should get into the recording industry, because we could listen to this V8 music allllll day…
