SEMA 2016: Rick’s Tanks Debuts At SEMA With Restomod Fuel Tanks

RicksTanksSEMA2016-12One area people sometimes don’t think about until after the build up is the fuel tank. When you’re doing a restoration and you want to put some nice new metal under the back of the car to hole it’s motivation juice, sure, a new fuel tank is on the parts list.

But building a car with a modern engine swap, or a restomod, and once you start plumbing the fuel lines you start to realize that perhaps the original tank is not best suited for the new powertrain – especially when it’s fuel injected. That’s why Rick’s Tanks should be on your parts list, and when it comes to fuel tanks you can either go full custom, or you can opt for a new Restomod Tank from Rick’s.

We’ve utilized these great fuel tanks on a few of our builds, and for a purpose built car requiring a custom built fuel tank, Rick’s is the first place we go. But if a custom tank isn’t part of your plans, but you still need something to handle the new EFI system you’re installing, the Restomod tank is a perfect, budget-conscious choice for your car.

These stamped steel tanks are built to fit directly into the factory location, and are available with Rick’s Tanks’ new fuel pump to provide the juice to your engine at the right pressure. Using a triple pickup tube that pulls fuel from the center and either side of the tank, you can be sure that your pump won’t be sucking air when you’re hitting those cloverleafs on the freeway.

Available in a single- or dual-pump system, these billet fuel pump hats are designed to fit Rick’s new Restomod fuel tanks. If you started with a single pump, but later need a second pump when you upgrade your engine, you can add a pump to the existing hat for dual pump fueling.

Rick Guerrero told us, “The Restomod tanks are a price-point alternative to our custom tank and still perform better than the stock tank when it comes to fuel pickup points.” The Restomod tanks are available for many GM models now, with plans for Mustang and Mopar applications coming soon.

While we were there, Frank Stubbs, a loyal Rick’s Tanks customer, told us, “All my builds get a Rick’s Tank.” Even at SEMA, Rick’s customers look them up and stop by to praise its products. You can find more info about custom and restomod fuel tanks, visit the Rick’s Tanks website.
