During the 2016 edition of the Street Car Super Nationals: Anarchy At The Arch, Marty Stinnett unloaded his twin turbocharged Ford Mustang packing an unique, small-block punch under the carbon fiber paneling in hopes of some low 4-second elapsed times in Radial vs. The World. The small-block, twin turbocharged powerplant base isn’t something often seen in radial racing’s most extreme class, with mind-numbing elapsed times deep into the 3-second zone. With SCSN a fairly local event to the Kentucky native, Stinnett hauled his hot rod up to Gateway Motorsports Park for his third outing in RVW competition.
Many will remember Marty Stinnett’s name from the Outlaw 275 days and becoming the first driver to unofficially break into the 4.1-second elapsed time range during a private test session, and then doing it again during the Fall Brawl at Holly Springs Motorsports Park before his famed ’95 Mustang was wrecked during the same event.
Stinnett has since purchased the former nitrous injected Fox body from Texas runner Taylor Lastor, and stuffed his 440 cubic inch mill from Jeff Burns Racing Engines in between the framerails in hopes of RVW supremacy. Stinnett unloaded with his first three-second run, a 3.97, that was later lowered to the new boosted small-block radial record with a 3.929-second blast at 188 mph, compliments of an astounding 1.00 sixty foot time!
Marty was quick to thank Southern Speed Racing for the chassis and tuning services along with Billet Atomizer Racing Injectors. Without the adequate fuel flow, the small-block bullet would not have achieved these record breaking numbers. The Jeff Burns Racing Engines-built engine relies upon a set of 600 pound-per-hour injectors straight from the minds at Billet Atomizer.
Stinnett would carry on to the semifinal round of eliminations but suffered engine damage that kept the team from making the call for the round of four. The team is hoping to be back in business for the largest radial race of 2016, No Mercy 7 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The big question that is now on the table – can Stinnett dip into the sub one-second 60-foot times and run the Billet Atomizer-equipped small block to the 330-foot mark hard enough to run with the boosted big-blocks that run the back half quicker than ever? We’ll find out in just a little over a month as the best of the best battle it out at SGMP!
