There is no easy way to say this, so we’ll just say it; Chevy has been getting creamed in the muscle car wars. Sure, sales were over the Mustang for a good couple of years, but the Mustang has come crawling back with several hot new models including the Boss 302 and 2013 Shelby GT500. Even with the Camaro ZL1 and 1LE packages, it is an uphill battle for any Bowtie enthusiast.

Luckily, dealerships like Rodgers Chevrolet in Michigan have their own take on performance, and are outfitting factory Camaros with their own flavor. The Rodgers Performance Option for the Camaro 1LE takes this Boss Mustang fighter to the next level with some additional suspension and engine enhancements according to Camaro5.

As we are already well aware, the 1LE package is meant to give the Camaro a bit of a handling upgrade thanks to new suspension bits, fuel management components, and big-black 20-inch wheels. Rodgets Chevrolet is taking the 1LE to the next level by adding more suspension improvements (though what exactly, we’re not sure) as well as an exhaust and cold air intake system.

From the sounds of it, the Rodgers Performance Option (or RPO) is being built to serve as a base for more radical redesigns of the Camaro. Rodgers will even go so far as to add a supercharger, a hotter cam, or for the truly outlandish, a 7.0 liter LS7 engine straight out of a Corvette. Rodgers also adds some distinctive striping and a new engine cover emblazoned with “RPO”.

Sure, from the factory the new Camaro may be a bit behind the 2013 Mustang, but thanks to enthusiasts like Rodgers, improved performance is easy to find.
