Canada, or as some refer to it, “America’s Hat,” is a cold nation full of hockey-playing, maple syrup-drinking denizens…many of whom happen to be Mustang fans. Yet as unbelievable as it sounds, a country with fewer people than the state of California has snagged the record for the world’s largest Mustang parade. For the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, it’s time to bring that record back where it belongs.
A record-setting cruise from Charlotte Motor Speedway to historic Kannappolis, North Carolina has been arranged, and with 4,000 Mustangs expected at the festivities, we stand a good chance of bringing the record back to America.
In 2008 some 620 Mustangs cruised from St. Eulalie to Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada, setting a Guinness World Record for the longest Mustang parade. So far just 400 Mustang drivers have registered for the event, but with ten times that many attendees expected at the 50th anniversary celebration, Mustangs might set several records.
The largest single-make vehicle parade was set by MINI drivers in 2009, with 1,450 MINIs turning out for the drive. The $15.00 registration fee for this Mustang cruise will benefit the Wounded Warriors Foundation, and we can’t think of a better present to give back to Ford than a new, Guinness-certified world record with the Mustang’s name on it. You just can’t buy publicity like that.
