An incredible restomod Mustang built with near original stance, is one of the most recent builds by Bodie Stroud. This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback features supercharged Coyote power thanks to an Edelbrock E-Force 700 hp crate engine backed by a six speed was recently at the Fabulous Fords Forever show at Knott’s Berry Farm in late April, where MustangConnection1 caught up with the owner and the car for an interview and overview. The 65 Fastback as you can imagine drew a crowd of admirers, and curious individuals looking to replicate some of this build’s features. With a classic feel with some modern additions this pony is a unique build that should be comfortable on the street, strip, or through the twisties.
George, the owner was on hand to go over all the amazing details of his ’65 Fastback dubbed the GT700S. Other engine bay mods are CNR Racing aluminum radiatorr, working A/C for those hot SoCal summers, electric power booster for the brakes, electric power steering, The electric brakes and power steering are becoming increasingly popular with the restomod crowd. Outside the front bumper is a Shelby replica piece, the rear bumper has been narrowed and tucked, and all of the bright-work has been done in satin chrome.
As you move into the interior of the Fastback you will see Auto Meter gauges, the transmission tunnel has been totally refabricated keeping with the original shape. 2006 Ford Mustang seats customized to look like 65’s with the pleats, along rear seat delete customized by Bodie Stroud are few examples of some of the amazing modifications inside.It’s a classic look with modern touches, a truly amazing blend of new and old style.
Stance is also important to the overall appearance of a classic Mustang. Stroud kept that in mind throughout the build project, the car gives us the impression of GT350 racers of the era. The color chosen for the Fastback is an original Ford Blue taken from a 1936 Ford pick-up truck. The color was slightly darkened for this build project. Also accented and finished off with chrome matte rear bumper.
This ’65 Fastback has a unique look that stands out from the rest. A nice blend of bringing the old and new together for a one of a kind build. Thus drawing the eye of an any admirer immediately to this ride.
