Most of us think we are pretty damn good drivers, though most statistics would argue otherwise. The fact is that even those of us who went through driver’s education forgot most of what we learned by the time they printed out our licenses, and our ability to properly handle a vehicle is hampered by cell phones and other constant distractions. Yet most of us never shake that childhood urge to be a race car driver, and luckily there is a way to fulfill that desire and pick up some performance driving skills to boot.
The Ford High Performance Driving School at Miller Motorsports Park has announced their 2011 schedule, and there are plenty of options and opportunities to pick up a few tricks of the racing trade.
Since 2006, the Ford High Performance Driving School has taught thousands of drivers how to drive fast and safe and to push the fleet of Mustang GT’s and FR500S race cars to their absolute limit. There are a variety of different programs for Mustang fans of all ages and budgets. For starters, there is the world’s only two-hour Mustang Driving Experience, which costs a mere $300.
For those looking to learn a bit more (and spend a lot more) there are one-day training courses ($1,495), two-day ($2,795), and even three-day driver training courses ($3,995) where trainees can sharpen their driving skills and learn from some of the best driving instructors in the country. This ain’t your typical driver’s ed course. Many graduates from these courses have gone on to have successful driving careers in a variety of racing circuits, and you could be among them. The courses run from April to October, so you should be able to find time to take a few days off this year for this awesome racing training experience.
