It is hard to believe, but Top Gear America has already brought to an end its third full season. The show, hosted by Tanner Foust, Rutledge Wood, and Adam Ferrara, has gone through several different formats. This year they focused on road trip challenges, testing everything from cop cars to cult classics.
But for the finale, the Top Gear America gang was asked to prove that you didn’t need a 4×4 to cross some of America’s toughest trails. The cars they choose were all of the rental variety, including a Toyota Yaris, a Lincoln Town Car and, you guessed it, a Ford Mustang V6. The ending for the Mustang was…not pretty.
With Foust in the Town Car, and Wood in the Yaris, that left Adam “The Wrecker” Ferrara with the Mustang V6, which looked to be of 2005-2009 vintage. Among the many challenges tossed at the hosts by the producers were crossing a poop bog, traversing some steep trails, and finally getting their rides down a sheer vertical cliff in one piece.
Foust lowered his Town Car via a winch, and Wood called in a crane to deliver his Yaris. But Ferrara, living up to his moniker as “The Wrecker,” attempted to use a glider to land his Mustang to safety. As you can see from the picture above, his efforts, while entertaining, were far from successful.
At least it was just a Mustang V6, true? And there is no denying the entertainment value in sending a V6 Mustang over a sheer cliff if you ask us.
