The Ford Mustang is an icon of the American auto industry, and an entire mini-economy orbits the Mustang in the form of performance parts, upgrades, and memorabilia. But at the heart of the Mustang cult is a car ,though, and people are still buying, tinkering, and restoring classic Mustangs. There is no end to the need for spare parts or whole cars, and that’s where this next story comes in.
If you’re looking for a head start entering the, ahem, low end of the Mustang market, then have we got an eBay auction for you. Up for grabs is a lot of 49 first-generation Mustangs ranging from 1965 to 1973, as well as a bevy of body parts. Beware though, this is more like a Mustang graveyard than an auction house.
The cars are located in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and the opening bid is $49,000. While the auction doesn’t say so, we’re assuming that the cost does not include the land the Mustangs are on, and thus you’ll probably be responsible for shopping them off the property. There doesn’t appear to be anything particularly valuable among the 49 vehicles, save for a 1970 Mach 1, a ‘68 California Special, and a ‘68 Mercury Cougar that somehow snuck in.
The auction, which ends in a couple of days, also includes a bevy of Mustang parts for all years including fenders, spoilers, transmissions, trim pieces, complete interiors, and more. Most of the Mustangs are missing their engines, transmissions, or titles (sometimes all three), and most of these cars look like they’re on their last legs. But if you just have to get into the Mustang business, this is as good a start as any.
