Earlier this week, we reported that Billy Glidden, a former champion of the Flowmaster NMCA Muscle Car Nationals Series, will be returning to the series that he once called home and dominated like no one else, with intentions of campaigning his familiar Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels-backed Ford Mustang in Pro Street — the series’ top division.
On Thursday, the wraps (no pun intended) were pulled off the brand new look that Glidden’s Mustang will carry into competition this year, with an all-new black, gold, and white scheme that’s been designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Mickey Thompson that the company is celebrating in 2013. Noted artist Greg Zoetmulder of Greg Z Designs crafted the eye-catching new scheme that combines the Mickey Thompson logo with their golden anniversary colors and a carbon fiber pattern down the doors and the quarter panels. Zoetmulder and his brother, Luke, applied the wrap at their Sticker Dude Designs shop near Chicago, before Glidden and wife Shannon hauled the car back home to Whiteland, Ind. to make final preparations for this weekend’s NMCA season opener in Florida.
Glidden, who once dominated the Super Street ranks in his famous black Fox body Mustang to the point that sanctioning bodies created rules just for him, is returning to the NMCA after the ADRL dissolved the struggling Extreme 10.5 class that he was champion of back in 2008.
In Pro Street, Glidden will do battle with the likes of last year’s championship runner-up Clint Hairston, former Drag Radial champion and Pro Street rookie Jason Lee, Jeff Lutz, Randy Alder, and many others.
