The S197 Ford Mustang, especially since the 2013 redesign, is easily one of the best-looking cars on American roads. Enhancing the looks of this piece of automotive art isn’t easy, especially when you’re talking about a purpose-built race car. But using the right combination of colors, body enhancements, and sponsor stickers, even a race car can look truly gorgeous in its natural environment
Performance Autosport just revealed their latest livery for their 2013 Ford Mustang RTR, which will make its racing debut this weekend at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia, reports Mustangs Daily. Can this gorgeous racer carry on the success of its predecessors in the NASA American Iron Championship?
It certainly has big shoes (tires?) to fill. Performance Autosports has won the NASA American Iron Championship two years in a row, taking home both the 2011 and 2012 titles with driver Chris Cobetto. Can Performance Autosport make it a threepeat? This new Mustang certainly looks up to the task, and there is something about a silver-gray Mustang that is on one hand very dignified, and on the other hand dangerous, or even sinister in apperance.
Besides the new look, Performance Autosport also made some much-needed mechanical upgrades to stay competitive. This includes a new suspension setup from CorteX Racing, featuring their SLA system up front and the Xtreme-Grip watts-link rear suspension for maximum control and adjustability. Along with the new livery, a veteran driver, and two championships already under their belt, Performance Autosport is looking like the team to beat this year.
