Just a few years ago, hardly anyone had heard of stunt driver and racer Tanner Foust. Today though he is arguably one of the most famous racers in the world, tackling challenges like the World RallyCross Championship and the Formula Drift Championship. He is also one of the foremost spokesmen for the Ford brand, and highly sought-after to endorse Ford products, among other things.
Being a talented and capable spokesman as Foust is, grants him a lot of perks, like getting paid to drift a Mustang GT around a road course or taking a tour of the Recaro Racing seat factory. Ever wonder how those awesome seats are made? You’re about to find out.
If anybody knows the importance of a good racing seat, it’s Foust, who has been racing and stunting for more than a decade now. Foust knows that if you’re slipping and sliding all around in your seat, it is hard to keep control of your car. So after flaying the Mustang around the track for a while, Foust gets a chance to see up close and personal how these seats are made.
While watching workers apply upholstery using steam, Foust talks facts about Recaro and Ford. For example, 63% of Shelby convertible GT500 buyers opted for the Recaro racing seat upgrade. In the GT500 coupe, the take rate is 74%. The take rate of Recaro racing seats in the Boss 302 Mustang is 72%, while a whopping 92% of Focus ST buyers get better seating arrangements.
In other words, if you’re going to buy a SVT product anytime soon, chances are, it’ll have a Tanner Foust-approved Recaro racing seat on board. Like we said, the man knows what he is talking about.
