Without a doubt the most-anticipated new car of the next year is the 2015 Ford Mustang, the culmination of 50 years of performance technology and a racing pedigree. While spy photos of heavily-camouflaged test mules and renderings done with insider information have painted a pretty clear picture of what the 2015 Mustang will look like, until now we have yet to see the unobscured face of the next generation pony car.
But thanks to insiders working on behalf of Autoweek, we now have our first clear cut, unobstructed view of the 2015 Mustang’s front fascia. No camouflage, no renderings, just a camera-phone photo of the car collectors and fans around the world are anxious to see.
It certainly matches up with many of the renderings predicting a gaping mouth and angled, wrap-around headlights, though the lights in these photos are a bit larger and less-angled than many renderings. Unfortunately the spy was unable to snap pics of the side or back of the 2015 Mustang, but it appears the photoshoppers are on the right trail.
Autoweek also predicts that the 2015 Mustang will make its world debut around April of 2014, which would mean that actual production might not start until late summer or early fall. That’s a later timeline than many hoped, with many predicting the 2015 Mustang could debut as early as the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
The 2015 Mustang will be going to Europe, where it will likely recieve a four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine option, but no V8. America will get a V8 option, as well as a new Shelby model, though the jury is still out as to whether the 2015 Mustang will get a four-cylinder EcoBoost in addition to the naturally aspirated V6. Regardless of engine options,the more we see of the new Mustang, the more we like it.
